This article deals with the author's experience in teaching the geography of sacred places of Kazakhstan. Since the 2020-2021 academic year, the subject "Geography of the Holy Places of Kazakhstan" has been taught as an optional lesson for 10th grade students for 1 hour per week, as indicated in the methodological instruction letter.
By teaching the geography of the holy places of Kazakhstan, the sacred places connected with each other in the country are to be passed on to future generations as a historical and spiritual heritage. Currently, the general education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan faces the task of educating a spiritually rich, competitive, morally pure, comprehensively developed person. The basis of the development of any nation is to always remember the glorious deeds, culture and holy places of the past, to be proud of it and to pass it on from generation to generation.
In most cases, curriculum materials for the subject of geography pay little attention to ancient cities and holy places. This elective course allows to supplement the content of the school program.
As a result of reading the methodological tool, each student:
- to know what the geography of sacred places of Kazakhstan studies, stages of development, basic concepts of sacred geography;
- understanding questions that reveal the characteristics of different types; (monuments, religious and worship places, sanctuaries and spiritual holy places, their role in the history and culture of Almaty region)
- to be able to use basic terms and concepts;
- mastering active ways of studying, solving tasks, conducting;
The use of new educational technologies plays an important role in achieving them.
