The article examines the research of scientists on teaching geography based on information and
communication technologies and defines the concept of "teaching based on information and
communication technologies". The advantages of using information and communication
technologies in the educational process of geography teachers are studied. Programs and platforms
for effective teaching based on information and communication technologies are defined and the
possibilities of their effective use are studied. The article shows the effectiveness of the integrated
use of information and communication technologies in explaining natural phenomena and complex
processes in geography to students. The innovative relevance of teaching geography based on
information and communication technologies is determined. Proposals are prepared for the
development of an algorithm for the formation of students' functional literacy in geography based
on the use of innovative technologies.
Research shows that the use of digital technologies has significantly increased students' interest
in geography, and we are creating conditions for them to easily understand, analyze and make
decisions about large-scale phenomena.
