The article provides for the effectiveness of the use of digital technologies in teaching
geography to students, the meaning and methods and the expected results of the formation of digital
knowledge. In accordance with the program for updating the content of education in the subject
"Geography," the advantages of theory and practice in high-quality education of students with the
correct use of modern digital technologies are analyzed. The role and place of digital technologies
in increasing interest in the subject of geography has been determined.
In the context of a competently oriented paradigm of education, an important goal of training
future specialists is the formation of personal qualities of students, as well as general cultural and
professional competencies, the development of skills in their implementation in research,
organizational, management, experimental and analytical, digital technology and teaching activities.
After graduating from a higher educational institution, the student must have not only knowledge in
relation to his subject, but also have a sufficient set of personal qualities and competencies. In the
research work, the theoretical foundations of the application of digital technologies in the learning
process, study ability were considered. The possibilities of using digital technologies in the
educational process were analyzed and scientifically and theoretically substantiated.
