Abstract

This article explores the advantages and effectiveness of studying global ocean issues through
an interdisciplinary approach.
Integrating multiple disciplines into the school curriculum is essential, as it allows for a more
comprehensive understanding of ocean related challenges. Interdisciplinary training corresponds to
the modern education system aimed at developing students' critical thinking and integrated
decision-making skills. Students not only provide theoretical knowledge, but also teach how to
apply it in real life. Develops a desire to understand and systematize the interrelationships between
disciplines. Special attention is given to identifying potential challenges of interdisciplinary
learning, along with its benefits and practical applications within the education system. The aim of
this study is to analyze the effectiveness of teaching the topic of World Oceans using an
interdisciplinary approach. This research is based on the fact that an interdisciplinary approach
contributes to improved teaching quality.
This article describes the effectiveness of integrating ocean studies into the school curriculum
using an interdisciplinary approach. The complex and multifaceted nature of ocean issues highlights
the inadequacy of addressing them within a single subject. In teaching ocean studies, the need to use
geographic analysis to foster environmental values, taking into account the specifics of each
subject, is demonstrated. The study proposes ways to explain the importance of oceans to students
by combining geography with chemistry and biology. The key advantages of using an
interdisciplinary approach in the educational process were identified. A comparison of methods
used by domestic and international scholars in teaching about the World Ocean was conducted,
along with a literature review. A SWOT analysis was conducted to determine the overall potential
for developing interdisciplinary education. It was found that an interdisciplinary approach helps
develop students' creative and research abilities and improve the quality of education. Thus, the
study's results defined the role of an interdisciplinary approach in the school curriculum and
examined its effectiveness in teaching about the World Ocean.
