Almaty's gross domestic product growth is one of the best indicators among Kazakhstan's
regions. The city's high-quality and sustainable socioeconomic development is closely linked to the
diversification of the city's economy and the active attraction of investment.
Almaty is recognized worldwide as the economic center of our country and a rapidly developing
city, playing a vital role in the development of Kazakhstan and all of Central Asia. Almaty boasts a
favorable geographical location, serving as a key transportation and logistics hub connecting East and
West. It boasts a developed economy, business and cultural ties, and a strong focus on innovation in
manufacturing and public life.
This article comprehensively examines the specifics of teaching the socioeconomic development
of Almaty, a city with such potential, through effective methods and approaches in comprehensive
schools. To this end, we first analyzed typical educational programs and also examined the city's
demographic situation, economic potential, service sector development, transportation infrastructure,
and urbanization processes from the perspective of geography education.
The standard geography curriculum in Kazakhstan for secondary schools includes a section on
"Socioeconomic Development of Regions." It introduces students to the natural resource potential of
Kazakhstan's regions, population characteristics, the territorial organization of the economy, and social
indicators. It also includes learning objectives: identifying factors in regional development, conducting
a comparative analysis of specialized areas based on statistical and cartographic data, and identifying
current issues and prospects for regional development.
The article presents a methodology for achieving these educational goals.Described

methods, this program allows students to strengthen their skills in applying knowledge to real-life
situations, develop problem-solving and decision-making competencies, and improve their skills in
working with geographic data and effectively using digital tools to analyze cartographic and statistical
information.
