The modern development of higher chemical education is characterized by the transition to a
competency-based model of specialist training, the digitalization of the educational process and the
need to integrate laboratory training with professional training. At the same time, methodological
approaches to the formation of professional competencies of students of chemical specialties in an
innovative educational ecosystem remain insufficiently developed.
The aim of this study is to develop and validate a methodology for fostering the professional
competencies of chemistry students within an innovative educational ecosystem that integrates
laboratory instruction, digital educational technologies, and competency-based assessment in the
course Modern Aspects of Chromatography.
The study was grounded in constructivist and competency-based approaches and the principle of
alignment between learning outcomes, course content, and assessment. The research employed
comparative analysis of the scientific literature, instructional design, and conceptual modeling of an
innovative educational ecosystem.
The study resulted in the development of a methodology for fostering the professional
competencies of chemistry students. The proposed methodology comprises a structural model of an
innovative educational ecosystem, implementation stages, digital educational resources, laboratory
case studies, and competency-based assessment tools. The findings indicate that the integration of
digital technologies, project- and research-based learning, and laboratory instruction effectively
supports the development of professional, digital, and transversal competencies.
The practical significance of the study lies in the applicability of the proposed methodology to
the development and implementation of chemistry laboratory courses that promote the formation of
professional competencies and the preparation of competitive graduates in the context of the digital
transformation of higher education.
